Obituary of Wilfred Hicks

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Wilfred Ellsworth Palmer Hicks of Sackville, NB on February 2nd, 2016. Wilfred passed peacefully at the Sackville Memorial Hospital surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his parents as well as several siblings. Wilfred worked as a meat manager for Johnstone's Save Easy for many years. He was a talented musician, played in several bands and was known for his guitar playing. Wilf especially enjoyed “having a tune” with his closest friends and family. Another favourite of Wilf's was playing “200's” and cribbage with family and friends at the cottage in the summertime and the camp in the winter. He was actively involved in Sackville Minor Hockey for many years as vice president, director, and coach- supporting young hockey players, as well as his own children. Wilfred will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 58 years, Irene (Goodwin) Hicks; his five children Susan (Scott) Johnson, David (Shawna) Hicks, Timothy (Angela) Hicks, Jeffrey (Beverly) Hicks, Michael (Samantha) Hicks; and his ten grandchildren Katie (Scott) McMaster, Kelsey Hastie, Jenny (James) Johnson, Meredith Hicks, Zachary Strong, Elliot Hicks, Miriam Hicks, Harrison Hicks, Nelson Hicks and Oliver Hicks; and one great-grandchild, Lila McMaster. Wilfred will sadly be missed by his sister Marina Richard and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). It was Wilfred's wish that there be no funeral or visiting hours. There will be a family burial at the Westcock Cemetery in the spring. If so desired, donations can be mailed to Sackville Minor Hockey Club, P.O. Box 6405, Sackville NB. E4L 1G6 or to the Westcock Cemetery, 130 British Settlement Rd, Westcock, NB, E4L 2G3. “Let him sing me back home with a song I used to hear...and make my old memories come alive...and take me away and turn back the years, sing me back home before I die”- Merle Haggard
