Obituary of Eldon Blackburn

Mt. Whatley, N.B.- Eldon Blackburn, age 62, of Mt. Whatley, N.B. passed away quietly at his home, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. Born on February 5, 1944 in Sackville, N.B., he was the son of the late Roy and Amy (Trenholm) Blackburn. Eldon was a life-long farmer and enjoyed plowing snow and haying for people. His grandchildren were his life and he was lovingly known as “Papa”. Eldon loved his family and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Eldon will be sadly missed by his wife Mae Blackburn of Mt. Whatley, N.B.; two sons Earl Roy (Karlene) Blackburn of Aulac, N.B. and Bruce Eldon (Nancy) Blackburn of Notre Dame, N.B.; three daughters, Betty Lou (Mac) Proctor of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Shirley Joyce (Murray) Haley of Pointe de Bute, N.B. and Amy Louise (Chris) Melanson of Sackville, N.B.; two sisters, Beryl Blackburn of Amherst, N.S. and Carol Hicks of Sackville, N.B.; ten grandchildren, Cody and Chelzee Proctor, Jordan , Zachary and Lindsay Haley, Hudson and Quinton Blackburn, and Connor, Jacob and Christopher Melanson; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B.(364-8188). Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, January 4, 2007 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 and on Friday, January 5, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Campbell’s Funeral Home. A celebration of life service is to be held on Saturday, January 6, 2007 at 2 PM from Campbell’s Funeral Home with Rev. Douglas Campbell officiating. Burial will take place in the Pointe de Bute Cemetery. Donations in memory of Eldon may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society Research Fund or to the charity of ones choice.
