Obituary of Shirley Marie Estabrooks

Sackville, N.B.- The death of Shirley Marie (Wheaton) Estabrooks, age 76, occurred on Saturday, May 26, 2007 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital, Sackville, N.B. Born in Saint John, N.B. on May 10, 1931, she was the only daughter of the late Edith G. Wheaton. Shirley worked at the head office of Atlantic Wholesalers in Sackville, leaving and enrolling in St. Charles Commercial School in 1958. Upon graduation, she went to work for Enamel and Heating Products Ltd. as a bookkeeping machine operator. Shirley was then employed with the United Church Home for Senior Citizens and the Drew Nursing Home as their first secretary and bookkeeper when the Nursing Home opened and then with FRS Supplies as their bookkeeper until her retirement in 1990. She loved her home and cats and enjoyed sharing her baking with everyone. Shirley was a resident of the Drew Nursing Home in Sackville, formerly of Clarence Street and was a member of the Main Street Baptist Church. Shirley will be sadly missed by her husband of 53 years, Arnold P. Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Audrey and Rufus Reid of Charlottetown, PEI; sister-in-law Eva Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; one niece, Kim (Ken) Godfrey of Charlottetown, PEI ; three nephews, Michael (Ellen) Reid and Family of Desables, PEI, Ricky (Debbie) Reid and Family of Sackville, N.B. and Wayne Estabrooks of Sackville, N.B.; close cousin Mary (John) Stokes of Sackville, N.B. and several first cousins. She was predeceased by her mother and her Aunts and Uncles. Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville, N.B. (364-8188). Visitation will take place on Monday, May 28, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Campbell’s Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held from the funeral home on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at 2 PM with Pastor Andrew Swanson officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Shirley may be made to the charity of ones choice.
