Obituary of Terence Arthur Lockwood

Aulac, N.B..- It is with deep sadness, that the family of Terence A. Lockwood announces his passing at the Westford Nursing Home in Port Elgin, N.B. on Wednesday, April 8, 2015. Terence was 83 years of age. Born in Amherst, N.S. on December 22, 1931, he was the son of the late Gladys Amelia (Miner) and Arthur Martin Lockwood. Terence grew up on the family farm near Fort Beausejour and following his graduation from agricultural College, he worked for the N.B. Department of Agriculture for several years operating a bulldozer and clearing land. Other places of employment were Canadian Tire in Amherst, Irving Gas Bar at the N.B./N.S. border, Mount Allison University and Helm’s Texaco. Terence obtained his motor mechanics license after graduating from community college in Halifax and then worked several years for Baughan’s Transfer Co. in Sackville until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards and darts and gardening. Terence was a member of the Chignecto Fire Department and of St. Mark’s Anglican Church. Terence will be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Bertha Urquhart of Point de Bute, N.B., David Lockwood of Stoney Creek, Ontario, Robert (Julia) Lockwood of Aulac, N.B. and Marianna (David) Estabrooks of Grimsby, Ontario; his sister-in-law, Joan Lockwood of Hamilton, Ontario and by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents, Terence was predeceased by his brother, William Lockwood. Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell’s Funeral Home, 89 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-8188) from where visiting hours will take place on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 from 7-9 pm. The funeral service will take place at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Mount Whatley, N.B. on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 2 pm with Rev. Greg Frazer officiating. Following the service, all are invited to St. Mark’s Anglican Church Hall for a reception. The burial will take place at a later date, in the St. Mark’s Anglican Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Terence may be made to the St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of one’s choice.
